24 hour Horror Film Challenge

A couple weeks ago some friends and I entered the 24 Hour Horror Challenge in Toronto. The idea is that they give you a concept at 10 in the morning and you have to write, shoot and edit the whole thing by 10 the following morning.

The crew was amazing, nobody slept, and it was a really exciting way to test our chops as film makers. We got the film in on time but the edit was pretty rough and there was no score. The following week I tightened up the edit a bit and did final sound, it's looking pretty good now and the whole crew should be proud of what we pulled off.

It was the first time I tried my hand at Horror and it was a blast. Storytelling is storytelling and I'd love to do more horror/suspense stuff at some point. As for what's next, I'm dying to do some narrative shorts where we can take a bit more time.

We're making DVD's for the whole crew (7 of us), here's the DVD cover I did last night.

A Manifesto on climate change.

Climate change is upon us. We can no longer deny that the world is getting hotter with the increase in CO2 levels and the ice caps are melting at an accelerated pace. If we don't reverse reverse our impact on the planet, the melting ice caps will raise ocean levels in excess of 15 feet and displace hundreds of millions of people who currently live in low lying coastal areas. The time for action is now.

People in first world countries have the money and the power to affect change. Unfortunately, we are the same people who can most afford not to act due to our ability to buy our way out of problems. If our hometowns are swallowed by rising sea levels, we can pack up their wares and move to higher ground. The solution is evident. It is time to invest in our future. As members of this privileged group, we must seize the opportunity and buy up all of the high land on earth. From the Azores to the Andes, it's just good business. Graphs clearly show that as sea levels rise, demand for high, dry land will increase while it's availability will diminish. This in turn will drive up the prices of our land and enable greater return on our investment. Invest in your future, buy high land.

After fighting with word "blog" for over a year, I decided to be the last person on the planet to start one. Now that I have, I can mention my blog at parties and in the elevator. I'll say, "when you're done checking Anderson Cooper's blog, why not check out my blog?" The fashionably dressed women in the elevator will all turn to me and say "you have a blog?" And then, the sky's the limit. I'll use the word blog a few more times in a sentence and then wrap the whole thing up with something witty. Blog 1 fashionable women 0.
